Publishing System Programmer Analyst

Basis Understanding:

• Thorough understanding of XML and XML concepts and syntax
• Understanding of DTD syntax
• Understanding of Content Management Systems
• Knowledge of web services
• Understanding of Databases (specifically SQL or equivalent)
• Understanding the basics of XSL (XSLT and XSLFO, etc..)
• Understanding of Java

The following is a plus:

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the overall new XML based publishing system – touch points between modules.
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and general knowledge of computer hardware.
• Understanding of Arbortext Command Language (ACL) – a scripting language.

Tasks to be performed:

• Responsible for building, installing, and maintaining Arbortext document types (including DTD or Schemas), Stylesheet files (.STYLE Files, XSLT, etc.) and configuration files established by setting up the software.
• Arbortext stylesheets are used to format the screen of the Editor, as well as to format paper output and/or electronic output. Develop a clear methodology for Stylesheet creation and maintenance.
• Support and maintain Codes and Standards DTD.  Responsible for creating and maintaining additional DTD’s as the system grows.  Responsible for updating and managing the Document Model Report.  Develop a clear methodology for DTD creation and maintenance.
• Responsible for programming and supporting any custom applications created as part of the Arbortext Product Series.  This person will be responsible for maintaining all customizations to the Arbortext Product Suite (Editor, Link Manager, CMS, Publishing Engine, etc.) to improve authoring productivity. 

A firm foundation in installation of server based software, ACL (if used), web server administration, Java and HTTP protocols.
